Buldhana (also known as Buldana) is a city as well as a municipal council situated in the Buldhana district in the state of Maharashtra in western India. Going by latitude and longitude, the city is located at 20.53° North and 76.18° East. The average elevation of the city is 639 metres (2096 feet) above sea level. It is the headquarters of the Buldhana District. A unique feature of this town is that it is situated on the top of a peak in the Ajanta ranges, in central India and. The demography of the town, as recorded in the 2001 census, reveals a population of 62,979. Among these, 52% are males and 48% are females. The mean literacy rate of the town is 77%, higher than the nationwide standard of 59.5%. The male literacy is 82% and the female literacy is 72%. 13% of the population is children less than 6 years of age.
