6th Khanda of Chapter Four

Chandogya Upanishad is associated with the Kauthuma Shakha of the Sama Veda. It is part of the Chandogya Brahmana, which has ten chapters. The Chhaudogya Upanishad comprises of eight chapters, and commences on the Om Mantra. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 6th khanda of Chapter Four of Chandogya Upanishad describes about the instruction by fire. The bull further said that the Agni (fire) will describe to him another foot of the Brahman. On the morrow the cowherd turned towards his tutor with the cattle. When night arrived he lighted a fire, folded the cattle, placed fuel on the fire, and sat behind it facing the east. Agni then told Satyakama that he will tell him about one foot of Brahman. He told him that the earth is one quarter, the sky is one quarter, heaven is one quarter and the ocean is one quarter. This is one foot of Brahman consisting of four quarters and this foot is called Anantavat (endless). One who is aware of this and realises it as well as meditates upon one foot of the Brahma consisting of four quarters as endless, becomes endless on this earth. He becomes the conqueror of the endless worlds.
