![]() Early Life of Huma Qureshi Huma Qureshi was born on 28th July 1986 in Delhi. Her father, Saleem Qureshi, runs a chain of restaurant in Delhi and her mother, Ameena Qureshi, is a homemaker. Saqib Saleem is her brother, who is also a Bollywood actor. Huma was brought up in Greater Kailash of South Delhi. She is fluent with several languages including English, Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. She pursued her higher education from Gargi College and University of Delhi and graduated in History. Career of Huma Qureshi Huma started her acting career with Act 1 theatre group where she acted in a few theatre productions. She moved to Mumbai in the year 2008 for entering into the film world. She gave her first audition for a movie called Junction which was never made. Afterwards, she appeared in television commercials and signed a contract of two years with Hindustan Unilever. During this phase of her career she promoted a number of products including Pears Soap, Mederma Cream, Saffola Oil, Vita Marie, Nerolac and Samsung Mobile. She was noticed by the director Anurag Kashyap, while she was shooting for a Samsung Mobile commercial. Anurag was impressed by her acting skills and promised to make her a part of his movie. Later Huma was about to perform in the movie Billa II, but moved out of the project due to its ![]() Huma was next featured in the sequel of her first movie, Gangs of Wasseypur - Part 2 and the actress once again succeeded in achieving critical acclamations and positive reviews. Her next venture was a comedy movie, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana where she starred with Kunal Kapoor in the role of a Punjabi girl. Though the movie did not perform well at the box office, Huma's acting style was labelled as refreshing and impressive. In 2013, she appeared in a supernatural thriller Ek Thi Daayan where she acted alongside Kalki Koechlin, Konkona Sen and Emraan Hashmi. She also acted in Nikhil Advani's movie D Day where she appeared with Irrfan Khan. Achievements of Huma Qureshi In the year 2012, Huma Qureshi won Big Star Entertainment Awards for Most Entertaining Actor (Film) Debut-Female, South Africa Indian Film and Television Awards for Debut Actor of the Year-Female and South Asian Rising Star Film Awards for Best Supporting Actress for her movies Gangs of Wasseypur- Part 1 and 2.
