Meghnad Saha Planetarium, in the district of Bardhaman, was built by a renowned Japanese Goto, an optical manufacturing company. It is one of the famous tourist spots in the district. Bardhaman houses a number of tourist destinations that attracts people from different regions of India.
Meghnad Saha Planetarium is considered as one of the wonders of technology. Burdwan University had provided 5.1 acres of land with the aid of the Government of India and Japan and common people. The inauguration of the building was done on 9th January 1994. The planetarium is located besides GT road in the north of Golapbagh. It is open to all and the timing is from 1pm to 7 pm. The planetarium displays a number of intriguing shows in automatic exhibition on the subjects such as the solar system, the revolution of earth and many more. It is enlisted as a significant structure hosting and displaying variety of scientific technologies. Meghnad Saha Planetarium is considered to be of international standard and is enlisted among the bests in Asia.
