Career of Komal Sood
With a design philosophy that is distinctively feminine and refined the label presents evening wear with styles in high end demi couture. The ensembles are meticulously crafted by combining corsetry with tailoring and drapery.
Komal Sood has been surrounded by fashion her entire life. At the age of nineteen she became the Femina Miss India 2nd Runner Up and went on to represent her country at the Miss International Pageant in Japan In 1992. After that she started modelling and then she became a TV Anchor for Zee Tv for a series on high end homes.
Komal Sood graduated with an Arts Degree from Sophia College in Ajmer. She then left her hometown of New Delhi, India to further cultivate her knowledge of design at Jenson and Nicholson in Kolkata in 1996. She also studied at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Kolkata. To update her skills she attended the Summer Study Abroad 2009 course in trend forecasting and brand promotion from Central Saint Martin`s College of Art And Design in London.
Under the guidance of her family business, Burlingtons of Kolkata (a fashion house for men) she began her training in fashion retail, merchandising and production. This led her to work in the family accessory business from 1996 to 1998 with "Mantero" a leading Italian Fashion House who designs for YSL, Ungaro, Gian-Franco Ferre and Trussadi. In 1998 Komal started the "KYRA" brand - Hip International Clothes.
She launched the "Komal Sood" label in 2005. Komal passionately heads the KYRA brand as well as her Komal Sood line and has a team of designers and merchandisers who she works with.
