Chandogya Upanishad, one of the oldest Upanishad has been ranked ninth in the Muktika canon of hundred and eight Upanishads. It is linked with the Sama Veda. The Upanishad has been written during the Vedic Brahmana period. The 21st Khanda of Second Chapter of Chandogya Upanishad states about the meditation on the Saman as interwoven in everything. The three Vedas are the syllable Him, the three worlds are the Prastava, the fire i.e. the Agni, air i.e. Vayu and the sun i.e. Aditya are the Udgitha, the stars, birds as well as the rays are the Pratihara and the serpents, gandharvas and the Manes are the Nidhana. It is Saman as interwoven in everything. One who knows this and realises it is aware of everything and is bestowed with gifts from all regions.
