Lolark Kund
Lolark Kund is an old and sacred stepwell pond located in Varanasi. Many childless couples come here to take a dip in the holy water to be blessed with a child.

Lolark Kund, VaranasiLolark Kund is one of the oldest sacred sites of Varanasi. It is a rectangular stepwell pond or a holy water body of 15m height. The word Lolark means `trembling Sun". Hence this holy water body is dedicated to the Lord Surya, the god Sun or Lord Lolark Aditya.

Many religious festivals are celebrated in Lolark Kund. Thousands of devotees visit this place to worship Lolark Aditya. It is said that taking bath in Lolark teerth now known as Lolark kund or performing religious pooja are very valuable and have many positive effects for the devotees. Many important days are celebrated in Lolark Kund. The most important festival of this place is Lolark Shashti. It is a festival celebrated during the monsoon season, on the sixth day of the bright half of the month of Bhadrapada, which usually falls in September.

On Lolark Shashti, many issueless couples take dip in the holy Lolark Kund early in the morning to get blessed with a child. The childless couples also leave their wet clothes after taking the dip in the water along with a fruit or vegetable in the pond in the hope of having a male child. On the fulfillment of the wishes, the pilgrims again visit this Kund.

There are steps leading down from three places towards the pond. On the fourth side, the Kund takes the shape of a well. The temple of Lord Surya is located in the vicinity of the Lolark Kund. People also visit the Durga Temple located at a distance of 1 kilometer from the Lolark Kund. The road to Lolark Kund has been well constructed.
