Bagasara is a city as well as a municipality in Amreli district in the state of Gujarat in India. Amreli District is an administrative district with the district headquarters located in Amreli town. The district has a total area of 6,760 square kms. The population of the district is 1,393,918. Out of the total population, 22.45% of the people live in urban areas (as recorded in the 2001 census). The most popular temples in the town of Amreli are Gayatri Temple, Nagnath Temple and Shreenathji Haveli. The other places of tourist attraction in Amreli district are Una, Tulsi-Shyam, Delvada and Kankai.
As per the 2001 India census, Bagasara had a population of 31,789. Males and females respectively constitute 52% and 48% of the population. The mean literacy rate of the city is 70%, higher than the national average of 59.5%. 56% of the males and 44% of the females are literate. 12% of the population is children below six years of age. In olden times this city was an important "pith" (the word literally means a big trading centre). It was well known for gold plated jewellery. Two great personalities were born in this city. They are the national poet Zaverchand Meghani and the international magician K Lal.
