King Comics was one of the popular Indian comics magazine and a sub division of the renowned publishing house Raj Comics. Raj Comics was the publisher of popular Indian superheroes like Nagraj, Super Commando Dhruva, Doga, Parmanu, Shakti etc. King Comics was a monthly comics magazine that published 6 comics in each issue and consisted of its own original characters. The comic was published only in Hindi. King Comics was reputed initially and was much admired by Indian comics readers. But eventually the comics magazine failed to raise its level of popularity like that of Raj Comics, its sister concern. The prime reason for this was the lack of standard quality in content and artwork. King Comics still continued its operations for another 5 years and was financially supported by the resources generated by the success of Raj Comics.
But eventually King Comics was brought to an end and publication was stopped as its popularity declined further. After its demise, the editors and publishers at Raj Comics planned to merge some of the characters of King Comics into Raj Comics universe but due to bad response, the plan was not implemented. The only character that was successfully transferred to Raj Comics and attained success was the character of Gamraj. Gamraj is still one of the well known characters and is being published by Raj Comics under its own banner.
