Temple of Sri Chandraprabhaswami is located in Girnar in Junagadh district in Gujarat. The presiding deity of this temple is Sri Chandraprabhaswami. It was established in the year 1301. The temple has been tastefully decorated and the roof of the temple is adorned with colourful statues and sculptures. Towards the north side of this temple there is a Gajapada Kund that can be reached upon climbing down 30-40 staircases.

Gajapada Kund
The Gajapada Kund is regarded as very holy by the devotees. This kund finds its mention in many documents related the Jain Literature of 13-14 century. The kund has also been mentioned in Prabhaskund in Skanda Purana. A structure has also been made in one of the pillars of this kund.

History of Gajapada Kund
According to Sri Shantrujay when Sri Bharatchakravarty and Ganadharbhagavant and others came to Girnar, Lord Indra also ascended here in his elephant for the establishment of Lord Neminath. Lord Indra with the help of his elephant made a kund for the purpose of holy bathing of the devotees. The special feature of this kund is that all the important rivers of the three world mix in it. With this holy water Lord Indra performed the consecration of Lord Neminath.

It is believed that this holy water has the power to cure many diseases. Thus taking a dip into this river can heal diseases like coughing, asthma, leprosy, ascites and others. It is also believed that by taking a bath in this holy water one gets rid of all the sins and becomes free from the cycle of birth and rebirth. The water of this kund is regarded as very pure, holy and sweet. According to the stone plate of 1214 idols of Goddess Ambika and deities were installed here by raising walls around this kund.
