Location of Kutumsar Caves and Kailash Gufa
The Kutumsar Caves and Kailash Gufa in Chhattisgarh is located in the Kanger Valley of Bastar. Kanger Valley is one of the scenic areas in the region and houses the Kanger Valley National Park. The Kutumsar Caves and Kailash Gufa are located at a distance of 38 kilometres and 40 kilometres from the main city of Jagdalpur respectively. Kailash Gufa came into light from 1993, while people say that the local villagers came to know about it very earlier. The real credit for revealing this Gufa goes to Forest guard - Sonsay, Rajaram Shivhare, watchman Sitaram, Gang-Superviser Jhaduram Yadav and Range officer Roshan Lal Sahu. Due to sunset, they missed to see it on 18th March 1993, but later, they came again on the site on 22nd March, and found this awesome sight. As they went inside, they got fantasized by an entire world of conical structures and saw some of the structures as Shiva lingamthey named it as Kailash Gufa.
Attractions of Kutumsar Caves and Kailash Gufa
The Kutumsar Caves and Kailash Gufa are famous for their striking formations. The interior of the caves are dark and have narrow pathways. They are probably the darkest of their sort and are 35 meters below the ground level. These are possibly the world's second largest caves formed naturally and house five natural chambers and quite a few blind wells.
The Kailash Gufa is located on a small hillock and resembles the Kutumsar Caves. It is a 100 meters long cave which is also pitch dark inside. The cave has a narrow entrance. The Kailash Gufa was discovered in 1993 which houses stalactites and stalagmites galore. There is a special stalagmite formation which can be seen at the end of the cave in the shape of a Shiva lingam. The reverberations caused here are strangely musical.
The Kutumsar Caves and Kailash Gufa are surrounded by sprawling greenery and the entrance is covered with rocks and pebbles. The fantastic ambience of the caves adds to their charm. Kailash Cave is accessible from two ways. The first one is National Highways -16(Jagdalpur-Hyderabad Highway). From Kanger valley National park just after travelling 3 kilometres to the way of famous Kutumsar caves. The second way is the route from Jagdalpur to Netanaar via Sargipaal, Jaatam, Nangur, kawaali right at the entrance barrier of kailash caves.
