Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh in Madhya Pradesh. Chhattisgarh is one of the newest states of India known for a variety of natural recourses. Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary in Chhattisgarh houses many wild and endangered species of flaura and fauna. The Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary was established in the year 1975 under provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The sanctuary covers an area of 55 sq. kilometres. The sanctuary is located very close to Bilaspurand Raipur. The nearest railway station is at Belgahna. Achanakmar sanctuary is easily approachable from Pendra Road through various modes of transport. The wildlife sanctuary serves as a major tourist spot for the nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts.

The Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary is famous to have some of the most rare flora and fauna in the region. These include; various species of animals such as tigers, leopards, gaur, cheetah, mouse and various species of birds. Apart from these tourists can also see other plant species such as Sal forest, Bamboo brakes, mixed deciduous forest and sub-lands and tropical forest. The Achanakmar Wildlife Sanctuary houses various species that reside in the sanctuary like, Indian cobra, Jungle Cat, Lesser Kestrels, Antelopes, Barking Deer, Chinkara, Monkey, Muntjac and Porcupine, leopards, gaur, chital, Bengal tigers, striped hyena, jackals , the sloth bear, dhole, sambar, nilgai, four-horned antelope, blackbuck, Antilope cervicapra, Indian muntjac, and wild boar, among other species.
