According to the most popular legends this temple was established by Shri Ramchandra who established the lingam with the help of a pumpkin. Loknath temple is also known for a number of festivals which are celebrated with a lot of pomp and show. Among the most celebrated festivals is the festival of Saranti- Somobar mela during which thousands of devotees flood the temple.
