Housed with few more temples Loknath temple pays homage to Lord Shiva which is supposed to be established by Lord Rama. Loknath temple is also known for a number of legends which attract a lot of Hindu devotees to the temple. According to the most popular legends this temple was established by Shri Ramchandra who established the lingam with the help of a pumpkin. Surrounded with a number of legends this temple is often visited by the Hindus who believe that Lord Loknath of Loknath temple has the superior power to cure all diseases and common problems which are related to health.
Loknath temple is also known for a number of festivals which are celebrated with a lot of pomp and show. Among the most celebrated festivals is the festival of Saranti- Somobar mela during which thousands of devotees flood the temple. During the festival the devotees visit the temple with an expectation that all their miseries would come to an end. Located at a distance of one kilometer from the popular Jaganath temple it is one of the most popular shrines which is often visited by the tourists as well as devotees of Lord Shiva.
