Harishankar Temple is one of the 14th century temples of Orissa which is located in the southern slope of Gandhamardan hills. Located at a distance of 45 kms from the city of Bhubanswar this temple is situated in the Balangir District of Orissa. It is one of the most unique temples of India which has a twin deity of Lord Shiva as well as Lord Vishnu residing in the twin temples of the same complex. Harishankar temple is a small area which is surrounded with a number of other temples. Along with the twin temples of Lord Vishnu and Lord Shankara it reflects the religious background of Orissa. Dated back to 14th century this temple is mainly noted for its charming design and exquisite architecture.
Thus built in the ancient style of architecture this temple too includes a Duel (a tower) and a Jagamohana (porch) but is a simple structure as compared to any other temples around the city of Bhubaneswar.
