The Filmfare Award for Best Sound Design is presented by Filmfare in its annual Filmfare Awards to the sound designer who designs and develops the most appropriate sound effects that, when incorporated into the scenes of a Hindi film of the preceding year, add significantly to the ambience and feel of the situations and scenes in the running story.
It was first given in 1955, a year after the inception of Filmfare Awards.
Filmfare Award for Best Sound Design at 61st Filmfare Awards
The 61st edition of Filmfare Awards of 2016 recognised the film ‘Talvar’ of 2015 for its sound effects. The sound designer Shajith Koyeri was presented the Filmfare Award for Best Sound Design, for creating appropriate intriguing and haunting sound effects for the thriller drama film inspired by the 2008 Noida double murder case of 14-year old girl Aarushi Talwar and the domestic help in her house Hemraj.
