 Arpita Banerjee started her Kathak learning since a very young age. She started Kathak dance training at the age of five. She did her training from Nritya Siromoni Guru Bandana Sen in Lucknow and Jaipur Gharana. She also trained herself under Pandit Birju Maharaj Ji for 5 years. She continued her training in Kathak under Shri K Murali Mohan and Nandini K Mehta at NADAM in Bangalore. She has also received training from renowned Kathak exponents Sri Maulik Shah and Smt Ishira Parikh in workshop conducted by NADAM, Bangalore. Thereafter she also took Kathak training from famous Kathak and Sufi exponent Rani Khanam Jee in a workshop conducted by NADAM, Bangalore.
Arpita gave her class X examination from CBSE board in the year 2000 with an aggregate of 73%. She passed her class XII in the year 2002 with an aggregate of 71.5% She did her graduation from Bangalore University in microbiology in the year 2005. Currently she is associated with two dance academies - Nupur Dance Academy, Kolkata since 1991 till date and NADAM, Bangalore since September 2007 till date. Birju Maharaj Jee workshop intermediate group at Rabindra Sadan in the year 1999. Performed group shows with group NADAM in different dance and music festivals at Sangam (Karnataka) and Mangalore (Karnataka) and ADA Rangamanch, Bangalore. Performed in the group show with group NADAM on World Dance Day at Ravindra Kalakshetra in the year 2009. Performed duet Kathak Recital at Gorky Sadan for Nupur Dance Academy in the year 1993, in Kolkata. Performed solo Kathak recital at Gyan Manch for the award ceremony of West Bengal State Music Academy Talent Hunt in the year 1995 in Kolkata. Performed solo Kathak Recital at the All India Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan Sports and Cultural meet, New Delhi in the year 2000. Performed solo Kathak Recital at Chowdiah Memorial Hall for NADAM annual cultural festival in the year 2008, Bangalore. Performed solo Kathak Recital at Seva Sadan for Nritya Dhare 5 organized by Ananya Institute in the year 2009, Bangalore. Performed solo Kathak Recital at Rabindra Sadan, Kolkata for Stars of tomorrow conducted by Dance Group Federation of West Bengal in the year 2010. Awards received by Arpita Banerjee: Rewarded Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarship in the year 1997, 1998 and 1999 consecutively for Kathak Dance category in Kolkata. Awarded 1st Prize at the Talent Hunt arranged by Doordarshan Kendra Kolkata in the year 1999. Awarded 1st Prize at the All West Bengal Kathak Dance Competetion organized by West Bengal State Music Academy in the year 1995 for the age group 11yrs - 20yrs at the age of 11yrs. Awarded 2nd Prize in Jawaharlal Nehru Talent hunt in the 2000 in Kolkata. Awarded 1st Prize in the Jnyadodaya Talent Hunt in the year 2001 in Kolkata. Awarded 1st Prize in the inter collegiate fest dance competitions in the Classical Dance Segment in the year 2002, 2003 and 2004 consecutively at PES College, Bangalore. Awarded 3rd Prize in the inter collegiate fest dance competition in the Classical Dance Segment in the year 2004 at Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. Awarded 2nd Prize at Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrutik Sangh All India Talent Hunt in the year 2008 at Pune. |
