IIFA Awards for Best Lyricist are conferred to the Bollywood lyricists who pen down appealing lyrics for the Hindi film songs enriching the musical aspect of movies.

IIFA Awards for Best LyricistIIFA Awards or International Indian Film Academy Awards is a prestigious event of the Hindi film industry in which awards are presented every year by the International Indian Film Academy to honour the artistic and technical excellence of the film personalities belonging to the Hindi film industry. The ceremony greatly helps in promoting the Indian cinema at the international arena. The year 2000 marks the inception of this award ceremony and since then it is organized every year at various places of the globe. This three day celebration presents awards under varied categories as recognition to the contribution of film professionals in different cinematic arenas.

15th IIFA Awards
15th IIFA Awards ceremony was organized from 23rd to 26th April 2014 to commemorate the best films of the year 2013. It was held at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, in the United States. Farhan Akhtar and Shahid Kapoor co-hosted the event. The repertoire of enchanting Bollywood songs also shone in the Hindi films of 2013 and the lyrics of many songs deeply touched the heart of the listeners. The nomination for IIFA Awards for Best Lyricist included prominent names like Prasoon Joshi for `O Rangrez` (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag), Sandeep Nath for `Sunn Raha Hai` (Aashiqui 2) and Mithoon Sharma for `Tum Hi Ho` (Aashiqui 2). The award was won by Mithoon Sharma for penning the lyrics of the song `Tum Hi Ho` for the movie Aashiqui 2.

Mithoon Sharma
Mithoon Sharma is reputed music composer and singer of Bollywood who has composed a number of popular songs for Hindi films. He composed the song `Tum Hi Ho` for Aashiqui 2 along with authoring the lyrics for it. The song became a huge success and topped worldwide charts. It also received overwhelming positive reviews from critics who marked it as extremely soulful and heart touching.
