Paithan is situated 56 kms south of Aurangabad. The city was formerly known as Pratishthana, was the capital of the Satavahana Empire. The town is renowned for its sarees which come in the name of the city- Paithani sarees which has exquisite zari borders. Paithan was home of the great Maharashtrian saint Eknath. Paithan was the birth place of a number of Hindu Saints, like Bhanudas, Mukteshwar and Eknath.
