His grandfather, the late Dr. Nihar Munshi was a well-known ophthalmologist in India and his father, Dr. Prasant Munshi now owns the 'Dr. Nihar Munshi Eye Foundation' in Kolkata. He gave a brilliant performance in Anjan Dutta's film 'The Bong Connection'. In this film, he shared his screen with actors like Raima Sen, Parambrata and others. He has also acted in the movie 'My Brother...Nikhil' in 2005 alongside Sanjay Suri, Juhi Chawla and Victor Banerjee.
Controversy Related to Shayan Munshi He could have had a perfect start in his career had he not witnessed one of the most shocking murders that the country ever witnessed on April 1999. Instead of helping the police in nabbing the killers, he succumbed to pressure and drew major flak for his conduct during the trial of the case.
