![]() Rituparna Sengupta was keenly interested in the arts since a young age. She took formal training in painting, dancing and handicrafts at a painting school, called Chitrangshu during her childhood days. Rituparna Sengupta's education was completed in Mount Carmel School, and later she graduated in History from Lady Brabourne College. She was admitted at University of Calcuttato attain a degree of Master's in Arts, but had to interrupt studies to concentrate on her career as an actress. She is also a great writer and often writes columns in periodicals Anandalok and Bangladesher Hriday. When Rituparna Sengupta was in her first year of MA with a specialization in Modern History, she debuted in the film Shwet Patharer Thala, in 1995, playing a supporting role. After that film there was no looking back. The film was directed by Prabhat Roy and won the National Award for best Bengali Film. The early success of this gorgeous actress prompted the offer of roles in many films, including Sujan Sakhi, Moner Manush, Nag Panchami and Sansar Sangram. Rituparna Sengupta went to Mumbaito make a telefilm called Mohini with Hema Malini, she also signed a role in a Hindi film called Teesra Kaun? ![]() Rituparna Sengupta has received critical acclaim for her performances in the films like Dahan (1997), Utsab (2000), Paromitar Ek Din (2000) and Mondo Meyer Upakhyan (2002). She was honoured with the Best Actress award at the 1998 Indian National Film Awards for her character portrayal in Rituparno Ghosh's Dahan, where she played Romita, a newly wed woman who is the victim of a sexual assault by her husband. Rituparna Sengupta has also worked in the Bangladeshi film industry and her contribution in those films has won her a lot of approval, glamour and popularity. Rituparna is also popular as a trained Manipuri and Odissi dancer and also has her own dance troupe - Bhabna Aaj O Kaal meaning 'Contemporary Thoughts', which performs various dance-dramas based on Rabindranath Tagore. She is often seen performing dance dramas like Shyama, Meghdoot and Mayar Khela with innovation every time. Rituparna Sengupta also owns a media production company called Prism Entertainment. She loves outdoor-sports and often plays badminton as her pastime and exercise regime. Rituparna Sengupta married her childhood sweetheart Sanjay Chakrabarty - the founder and CEO of MobiApps on 13th of December, 1999 in Kolkata.
