In Valmiki's Ramayana, Ketumati is represented as the wife of Sumali. Sumali was the great Rakshasa chief of Lanka. Ketumati and Sumali together had ten sons and four daughters.
The ten sons were named Prahastra, Akampana, Vikata, Kalikamuka, Dumraksha, Dandha, Suparshva, Sanhadi and Barkarna. Later they were defeated by the gods.
Ketumati's and Sumali's daughter was Kaikasi who was the mother of Ravana.
