2nd Khanda of Chapter Four

2nd Khanda of Chapter Four of Chandogya Upanishad describes about the conversation between Janasruti and Raikva.

Chandogya Upanishad is associated with the Kauthuma Shakha of the Sama Veda. It is part of the Chandogya Brahmana, which has eight chapters. The Chandogya Upanishad comprises of eight chapters, and commences on the Om Mantra. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 2nd Khanda of Chapter Four of Chandogya Upanishad describes about the dialogue between Janasruti and Raikva. Janasruti, the great grandson of Janasruta, on hearing the conversation between two gheese sends his attendants in search of Raikva, the man with the cart. Upon finding him the king visited him and offered him six hundred cows, a necklace, a chariot with mules and his own daughter and requests him to teach about the deity whom he worships. The Raikva however, did not accept his gifts and prayed that the gifts may remain with the king. The Raikva regarded the princess as the door for imparting knowledge. She will be the cause of his conversation with him.
