One needs to find the indentions just to the outside and inside of one's kneecap. These chakras relate to presenting veneration, bowing the knee either to the divine or to someone regal or a spiritual entity ("genuflection" literally means "knee bending"). The state of flexibility in one's knees influences one's whole body, and due to that reason as well, these chakras are important.
These chakras, on both sides of the elbows, are similar in function to the knee chakras. There are very open when a person puts his/her hands together in prayer. In fact, the prayer state- bent knees, palms together (bent elbows), and lowered head, opens the devotional chakra and allows immense openness to elevated, more spiritual realms. The body joins in the prayer with its energy, heightening the spiritual connection. Blocked elbow chakras direct towards great self-centredness.
