Gurudwara Sehra Sahib of Himachal Pradesh is a famous sanctified place of pilgrimage for Sikhs. It is situated on the top of a hillock near Bassi or Basantgarh Village, 1 kilometre south of Guru Ka Lahore in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh. Guru Gobind Singh halted here for a short time on his way to Guru Ka Lahore for his marriage in 1677 and is dedicated to Guru Gobind Singh.
Legends of Gurudwara Sehra Sahib
According to the legends, Guru Gobind Singh Sahib had tied his 'sehra' (marriage garland) on his turban here, before proceeding towards the marriage site at Guru Ka Lahore eventually. Hence, the name of the Gurudwara is Sehra Sahib Gurudwara.
Architecture of Gurudwara Sehra Sahib
Gurudwara Sehra Sahib is a square domed room with a verandah, was constructed by Saint Seva Singh of Anandpur Sahib in 1962. It is supervised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee now.
