21st Khanda of Chapter Five of Chandogya Upanishad states about the Apana. The third oblation must be offered in the name of Apana.

21st Khanda of Chapter Five, Chandogya UpanishadChandogya Upanishad is associated with the Kauthuma Shakha of the Sama Veda. It is part of the Chandogya Brahmana, which has eight chapters. The Chandogya Upanishad comprises of eight chapters, and commences on the Om Mantra. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 21st Khanda of Chapter Five of Chandogya Upanishad states about the Apana. The third oblation that the eater presents must be offered by reciting the mantras in the name of Apana. Then the Apana is satisfied. One the Apana is satisfied, the speech i.e. the tongue is satisfied. The Speech being satisfied, fire is satisfied. The Fire being satisfied, the earth is satisfied. The earth being satisfied, what is under the earth and under fire is satisfied. Once all these are satisfied, the eater is satisfied with offspring, cattle, food, brightness of the body and the light of Brahman.
