`Guru`, the Indian film is a Mani Ratnam creation which stars Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.

Guru,   Indian filmThe Indian film, `Guru` is produced and directed by Mani Ratnam who also penned the story. Vijay Krishna Acharya wrote the Hindi dialogues. The film is shot in different locales such as in Mumbai, Turkey and Badami, Melkote, Karnataka. The film also shot in Chennai, Madurai, Pollachi, Tamil Nadu and Athirapilly in Kerala. The music director is A. R. Rahman and lyrics are penned by Gulzar. Cinematography for the film is done by Rajiv Menon. It is the tale of a man who does not know to gives up anything. The central character in the film is played by Abhishek Bachchan and he has done the job extra-ordinarily good.

Guru is based on the life and times of one of South Asia`s greatest business minds Dhirubhai Ambani. The tag line i.e. Villager, Visionary, Winner pretty much sums up his story, and a legacy called Reliance.

This tale follows the story of Gurukant Desai played by Abhishek Bachchan, who is a young man from the village of Idhar placed in Gujarat, who dreams big right from the start, facing several hurdles and an obstinate system to see his extraordinary dreams bear fruition. `Guru` is India`s first film to have a mainstream international premiere in Canada. Director Mani Ratnam as well as two of the film`s Indian stars Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai were extended a personal invitation by the Toronto mayor David Miller.

Synopsis of `Guru`
The story of the film starts in the year of 1951. A boy goes to Turkey as he is not interested in study and fails in the exam. He goes there to work in a petroleum company. He is very hard working and soon achieves a place in the job there. He also gets promotion. But he wants something else in his life so he comes back to his village and with a view to start his own business.

He does not have enough money. So he and his friend decide that Guru will marry the other friend`s sister for the dowry and with that money they will start business. They work accordingly and after marriage with their minimum holding, Guru, his wife Sujatha played by Aishwarya Rai and her brother as well as Guru`s friend Jignesh played by Arya Babbar go to Mumbai. Guru overcomes all the hurdles created by other businessmen and tries to reach the height. Guru,   Indian film But other businessmen do not like this and they tries to stop Guru. Guru soon realises that Mumbai business world is limited to some people and they don`t welcome any new competitor. Despite all distraction he opens a company named Shakti Trading. He tries to achieve success in faster pace.

Manikdas Gupta aka Nanaji played by Mithun Chakraborty runs a daily newspaper. The name of this newspaper is `The Independent`. He is very fond of Guru`s determination. He treats him as his own brother. Guru also respects him and all of them share a good relationship. All of a sudden Nanaji and Guru start having problem when Guru uses his paper to raise his business agenda. Nanaji appoints a strong journalist to stop Guru. Shyam Saxena played by Madhavan works in Nanaji`s newspaper. He starts collecting information against Guru and soon becomes successful to expose his reality. In the mean time Nanaji`s handicap daughter Meenu played by Vidya Balan becomes attracted to Shyam. Shyam and Meenu get married and the cold war between Nanaji and Guru goes on.

Nanaji gets frustrated when Guru`s company flourishes and also becomes one of the best companies in Polyester making. Out of much tension Guru meets with a severe heart attack. Guru and Sujata face the whole problem strongly and Guru ultimately proves his innocence and taker his pride back.

The star cast of the film `Guru` includes Mithun Chakraborty, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, R. Madhavan, Vidya Balan, Arya Babbar, Roshan Seth and Mallika Sherawat. The film is directed by Mani Ratnam while it is produced by Mani Ratnam along with G. Srinivasan. Mani Ratnam and Vijay Krishna Acharya write the movie. Music in the film is given by A. R. Rahman while cinematography is done by Rajiv Menon.

Awards for `Guru`
The Indian film `Guru` is an award-winning movie. Shreya Goshal has got the Bollywood best female playback singer award while Abhishek Bachchan got the best actor award.
