Chandogya Upanishad is associated with the Kauthuma Shakha of the Sama Veda. It is part of the Chandogya Brahmana, which has ten chapters. The Chandogya Upanishad comprises of eight chapters, and commences on the Om Mantra. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 20th Khanda of Chapter Seven of Chandogya Upanishad states that faith depends upon single mindedness. Narada had approached Sanatkumara to receive knowledge about the real Self or the Supreme Brahman. Sanatkumara considering him to be a worthy pupil instructed him about the real truth. Sanatkumara explained to him that when one is single minded in one`s devotion to the teacher, only then one has faith. If one who does not have single mindedness then he does not have faith. To have faith one must possess single mindedness. One must thus, try to understand single mindedness. Upon hearing this Narada also expressed his desire to understand this single mindedness.
