The Kalika Temple is the most high-flying temple in Reasi town situated in Reasi district under Udhampur tehsil. It is located on a crest of a hill close to the Reasi Bus Stand in the arterial area of the main city. Locals are of the faith that 300 years ago Kalika Mata demonstrated herself in the dream of Pandit Jagat Ram Sharma and showed her presence in the form of a 'pindi' (stone) lying belowground on this very hill.
After a thorough dig in the area, the pindi was finally found. Subsequently the temple was constructed atop the hill and Pandit Jagat Ram Sharma became the caretaker. Over the years the temple has gained reputation due to the strong belief of the people on Kalika Mata. The locals have contributed selflessly to the development of the temple. During the time of Navratri, Kalika Mata Temple gets a novel look of festivities, visited by a large number of people from across the country.
