Nehru Zoological Park is a popular recreation spot in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad The Forest department of the Government of Telangana looks after the administration of the zoo.
Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad plays a pivotal role for the other upcoming zoos. It receives grants from the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the maintenance of the zoo. The aim of the zoo is to make a scientific study of animal behaviour and disseminating knowledge to the people about peaceful coexistence of wildlife and human life.

Nehru Zoological Park has over 250 species of animals and birds, most of which are kept in conditions as close to their natural habitats as possible. This is the first zoo to create enclosures for animals. The Lion Safari Park, Natural History Museum and Children's Train are the added attractions.
