Chandogya Upanishad is associated with the Kauthuma Shakha of the Sama Veda. It is part of the Chandogya Brahmana, which has ten chapters. The Chandogya Upanishad comprises of eight chapters, and commences on the Om Mantra. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 16th Khanda of Chapter Five of Chandogya Upanishad states about the bladder of the Vaisvanara Self. Aswapati asked Budila, the son of Asvatarasva that on whom does he meditate as the Self. Budila replied that it is on water that he meditates. The king said that the Self that he meditates upon is the Vaisvanara Self called Rayi (wealth). It is for this reason that he is wealthy and flourishing, eats food and sees what is pleasing. One who thus, meditates on the Vaisvanara Self eats food, sees what is pleasing and has in his family the glory of Brahman. The water is the pelvic region of that Soul.
