Kaladungi is the name of a nagar panchayat town. It is situated in the district of Nainital of Uttarakhand. Famous Anglo-Indian zoophilist, Jim Corbett too resides in Kaladungi.
In order to depict the identifiable features of Kaladungi it is essential for any layman to collect demographical data of the particular town. In this matter one needs to tell about the Census report of India that has been published in the year 2001. Information like literary condition, population status etc can be deduced from it. As has been mentioned in the report Kaladungi showed a population count of 6126. Also it is known that in Kaladungi number of males is more than that of females. Thus male populace constitutes 53 % of the total population. Total population of females in Kaladungi is 47 % only. Also the children who are below six years of age constitute 16 % of the total population. How much a town has gained development is apparent from its literacy condition. Since Kaladungi's average literacy rate constitutes 62 %, it rightly conforms to its growth and prosperity. In fact it is even higher than that of India, which comprises of 59.5 %. A gap also exists between both male and female literacy rates of Kaladungi. Male literacy rate constitutes 70 %. The rate of female literacy constitutes 53 % only.
The Industrial growth in Kaladungi is quite apparent here. Watches, soyabeans and few electronic goods have ameliorated Nainital's economic situation. Since Kaladungi is incorporated in the district it is obvious that people of Kaladungi too stride into the footsteps of district’s trend and tradition.
