Chandogya Upanishad is associated with the Kauthuma Shakha of the Sama Veda. It is part of the Chandogya Brahmana, which has ten chapters. The Chandogya Upanishad comprises of eight chapters, and commences on the Om Mantra. Chandogya Upanishad is the part of Chandogya Brahaman that contains ten chapters. The 13th Khanda of Chapter Five of Chandogya Upanished states about the eye of the Vaisvanara Self. Aswapati asked Satyayajna, the son of Pulusha that on whom does he meditate as the Self. Satyayajna replied that it is on the Sun that he meditates. The king said that the Self that he meditates upon is the Vaisvanara Self known as the Universal Form (Visvarupa). It was for this reason that he had manifold wealth, chariot and mules, female servants and gold necklaces. He even received food, saw pleasing things around and had the glory of Brahman. The sun is the eye of that Soul.
