Since the economy largely depends on agriculture, a public-private partnership, to supplement the income of farmers has recently been commenced by the Agriculture -Minister Veerapandi. In the public -private partnership mode (ppp) , government has recently developed some market complexes, with the facilities of cold storage for the grapes, required for the wineries. Odaipatti also accounts for the export of huge amount of its quality grapes.
The standard of higher education, though not of first-rate, yet the average literacy in the village is about 64%, which is even more than national average (59.5%). There are ten primary schools and one upper primary & two higher secondary schools to serve the educational purpose of the villagers. Government has developed a primary Health center & a Veterinary hospital in the village & there is only one theater- Nandhagopal theatre for the amusement of the villagers. Tamil Nadu Mercantile Bank currently operates in Odaipatti, along with several panchayats in Theni.
Major parts of the population mainly comprise the Hindus. Originally the village was suffering from the threats of untouchability& ignorance, but recently the government, to remove these, has adopted some laws & steps. A number of social and economic development plans, has been undertaken by the state government, in recent times for the upliftment of the standard of living.
