Modakkurichi is a ' panchayat town' situated in the Erode district of the southern state of India, Tamil Nadu. The town is bounded by Modakkurichi in the east by Pasur, Avalpoondurai in the west, Surampatti in the north, Uthukuli in the northeast and Arachalur in the southwest. The nearest airport is C A Coimbatore Airport. The town covers an area of 30 square kilometers.
The Indian Census report published in 2001 states the demography of the town. According to the report, Modakkurichi had a population of 10,036. Males comprises of 51% of the population and females account for 49% of the population. In Modakkurichi, 9% of the population is less than six years of age. The average literacy rate of Modakkurichi is 62% which is higher than the national average literacy rate which is 59.5%. To be specific, the male literacy rate is 72% and the female literacy rate is 52%.
