Kurpania is an example of census town and it is located in the district of Bokaro of Jharkhand state of Indian territory.
Quite a handful of eminent demographers have contributed their valuable time in collecting some of the important information that are linked with the demography of this Kurpania town. It is their ardent belief that any study of a place in India would not take a concrete shape unless and until one becomes aware of its demographical scenario. To them, the census report of India that has been brought out in the year 2001 is quite a valuable document. Important data of Kurpania like population status, literacy status can also be deciphered from this report. Thus the total population of Kurpania has been enumerated to be 7440. In Kurpania town, 14 percent of the population is below six years of age.
The literacy rate of Kurpania town too helps a person to develop familiarity with the town. What is interesting to note that the average literacy rate of Kurpania is higher than that of the whole nation. In other words, 67 percent and 59.5 percent are the average literacy rates of Kurpania and India as such. Specifications about male and female literacy rates also have been duly mentioned. Thus male populace comprises of 54 percent of the total population. Female population constitutes of 46 percent.
Since literacy rate is an indicator for measuring the development of any place, one needs to throw some light about the literacy rate of Kurpania as well. Interestingly, the average literacy rate of Kurpania is 67 percent, which is higher than that of India as a whole. 59.5 percent is the average literacy rate of the entire nation. On the basis of this, obvious inference can be drawn that Kurpania is more or less developed. Like its population, the male literacy rate also is more than that of females. In other words, the rate of male literacy constitutes of 75 percent and female literacy rate is 59 percent only
