Vaikanmadakkovil Temple is located at Vaikanmadakkovil near Kumbhakonam, Aaduturai. Vaikan maadakkoyil refers to two shrines, Vaikal and Maadakkoyil (8km from Aaduturai railway station). Vaikal enshrines Vaikalnathar and Vaikalambika. Vaikanmaadakkoyil is 33rd in the series of Tevara Stalamslocated south of the river Kaveri. The Maadakkoyil is one of the 78 maadakkovils built at an elevation by KoChenkan Cholan. Komaleswarar and Ilankothai Amman are worshipped here. Vishnu, Lakshmi and Brahma worshipped Shiva here. Shiva is also called Bhramapureeswarar. Pankuni Uthiram is celebrated here annually.
