
Tenkoor temple is a holy shrine nestled in the
Tamil Nadu state of India. Tenkoor temple is 116th in the series of Tevara Stalams south of the
river Kaveri. It is situated in the vicinity of Tirunellikka near Tiruvarur. This
temple is considered to be Siva Sthalam.
Legends of Tenkoor Temple
As per legends, Navagrahams and
Lakshmi worshipped Shiva here.
Shiva's shrine is located in front of Lakshmi's. The Shiva
Ganga tank is located north of the temple. Asura
Guru Sukracharyar regained his eyesight after worshipping Shiva here. After the great deluge that submerged the
earth, this temple tank is where clear
water collected, hence the name Tengoor. Vaikasi Vishakam is celebrated here.
