Sandipan Chanda is a well known Indian chess player and Grandmaster. He was born on 13th August in the year 1983 and resides in the city of Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. In the year 2003, Chanda became a chess grandmaster. Sandipan Chanda has participated and played for the country in the Chess Olympiads in the years 2004, 2006 and 2008. He has attained the 4th rank in India after Viswanathan Anand, Krishnan Sasikiran, and Pendyala Harikrishna. Moreover, Chanda is ranked 11 in Asia and 92 in the world as per FIDE rating as on July 2011. The number of matches he has played is 485. His career spans from 1993 to the year 2012. The current FIDE rating for Sandipan Chanda is 2595 and the highest rating acheived in databases is 2656.
The notable games which he has played are against Koneru and A Das in the year 2006 and against Tiviakov and Sadvakasov in the year 2007. In the year 2009 he played the Kolkata Open Chess tournament against GM LeQuang Leim of Vietnam.
