Geetha Narayanan Gopal

Geetha Narayanan Gopal is one of the youngest players from India and has made his country proud by winning the title of Chess Grandmaster in 2007.

Geetha Narayanan Gopal, Indian Chess PlayerGeetha Narayanan Gopal is a young chess player. He was born in the year 1989 and is a young chess grandmaster from Aluva, in the Indian state of Kerala. He started playing the game from a very young age, at the age of 10. During his growing up years he was coached by TM Sankaran Namboothiripad, and as he grew up he took chess lessons from Ruslan Scherbakov and Evgeny Vladimirov. The latter two chess trainer provided lessons from a chess camps. Right from a very young age, his dedication towards chess was noteworthy and that patience and actually helped him to earn the tile of Chess Grandmaster in 2007.

Right throughout his growing up days he and his family had to make several sacrifices to see him grow as a chess player. His elder bother Gokul, gave up his lucrative engineering job to become his manager. In the year 2009, the All India Chess Federation banned him from participating in any further game as he did not play in any national championship. The AICF was accused of arbitrariness and the ban was subsequently revoked
