Devikulam is a tiny hill station in Kerala located almost sixteen km to the south western part of Munar. Its height is approximately one thousand and eight hundred meters above the sea level. This beautiful hill station is ideal spot for the tourists. Cool breeze, the sight of wild animals roaming about enhances the beauty of the spot. The term Devikulam signifies 'Pond of the Goddess', as it is believed that Devi Sita
once upon a time had taken a bath in the pond lying close by. The place is also ideal for picnic. Fishing is also permitted here. The best time to visit Devikulam is during the months of September to May.
Idukki is one of the fourteen districts of Kerala. Regarded as the most prominent hill stations in India, Idukki has been popular for its scenic beauty and picturesque nature. The tranquil and serene beauty of Idukki has made it the one of the most spectacular place on earth. The place is a suitable destination for a romantic getaway. Also called the hilly district of Kerala, Idukki is also known for its wildlife sanctuaries. It is one of the vital parts of the tourism industry of the state and forms one of the most visited tourist destination in Kerala. It receives water from three rivers that includes Thalayar, Periyar and Thodupuzhayar as well as their tributaries. The name of this hill station is believed to have derived from 'Idukku' which means a narrow gorge in the Malayalam language. Idukki is a veritable heaven of flora and fauna and is known for its spice and tea plantations.
Munnar situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala is one of the most popular hill stations. 1600m above sea level, this was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British Government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, picture book towns, winding lanes, trekking and holiday facilities make Munnar a unique tourist spot. The forest here is rich is exotic flora. One of the famous flowers found here is the Neelakurinji - a flower which blooms every 12 years and bathes the hills in a blue hue. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi which towers over 2695 m and is an ideal spot for the enthusiastic mountaineer
Ponmudi Hills is located at the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram
. This includes the evergreen mountain range which is linked with the city of Thiruvananthapuram by narrow roads. This is well known for the splendid scenic beauty. The Ponmudi hills are also popularly known for trekking and hiking which attract a large number of tourists.
Vagamon, a beautiful hill resort in Kerala located almost 65 km from the district of Idukki and 60 km from Kottayam. Nestled by the Thangal hills, the Kurisumala and the Murugan hills, Vagamon is rested high amongst green tea plantations and babbling watercourses. Vagamon also houses a wide variety of animals and birds. While taking a stroll one can come across elephants, which are seen busy fun and frolicking in water pools.
Vythiri in Wayanad is known for its forested green landscape as well as rich flora and fauna. Vythiri mesmerises its tourists with its enchanting spectacles and scenic view of the hills. Vythiri is located more than 1300 feet above the sea. The Hill station is rich in tea, coffee and spice plantations. A variety of plants and wild animals can also be seen here.
