Indian Tribals
India is truly a land of the tribes. With more than 84.4 million, India has the largest population of the tribal people in the world. These tribal people also known as the ‘adivasis’ are the poorest in the country, who are still dependent on hunting, agriculture and fishing. This aboriginal population in India has their own set of culture, religious and societal norms. While some of the India tribal societies have merged with the mainstream, most of the tribes are rooted to their native culture even today. This section of the Indian population adds special hue to the macrocosm.
