Jhaduram Devangan, Indian Theatre Personality

Jhaduram Devangan was born in the year 1921.He was a Pandavani exponent. He was born in a family of hereditary performers of the Vedamati seated style, in the village of Basin near Bhilai, Durg district, Chhatisgarh. He played a path-breaking role in developing and taking the form outside its native area during the 1950s, broadcasting Pandavani from Akashvani radio, Bhopal, in 1964 and then performing elsewhere in India. His excellence at narration, singing, and enactment made him very popular with rural audiences, in turn drawing new recruits whom he trained, like Punaram Nishada.
