Devil`s Tree, Indian Trees
Devil`s tree possesses sum essential alkaloids, necessary for drug-making.

Devil`s tree is a huge evergreen tree, nearly 25 metres in height. It has a sour milky juice, coarse, dark grey bark and spiralling branches. The leaves are tiny and it has greenish-white flowers, while the fruits are long, tapered and lean. The dried bark of the tree makes up the drug.

The bark of the tree contains many alkaloids. Of these, the most significant are ditamine and ditain. The second is an uncrystallisable bitter principle to which are assigned the febrifuge, i.e., the thirst assuaging properties of the drug.

Methods of usage
Devil`s tree is usable in severe as well as everyday illnesses, like fevers, irritable bowel, catarrhal dyspepsia, diarrhoea and skin eruptions.

Healing Power and Medicinal Properties of devil`s tree
The bark of the devil`s tree was regarded in high esteem in the aboriginal system of medicines for ages as a revitaliser and a drug, which reinstates the everyday function of the digestive system. It is also useful in states of fevers and skin disorders.

Fevers cured by devil`s tree
The herb is an outstanding alternative for cinchona and quinine to treat irregular and diminished fevers. Its pulverisation can be taken in dosages of 2 to 6 grams or its infusion should be administered in dosages of 2 to 10 drops.

An extract of the bark is exceedingly valuable in malaria. It lowers fever progressively to normal temperature in a short time without inducing perspiration and over debilitation, which normally accompanies other medicines for malaria.

Bowel Complaints cured by devil`s tree
`Chhatim` is always effective in bowel complaints. Approximately 33 centigrams of the grind of the bark can be administered in such ills.

Catarrhal Dyspepsia healed by devil`s tree
The pulverised bark is advantageous in the treatment of catarrhal dyspepsia- i.e. indigestion companioned by emission of mucus from the swelled mucous membrane of the intestines. Approximately 3.25 grams of the powder can be had before going to bed.

Diarrhoea and Dysentery healed by devil`s tree
The drug is an effectual remedy in acute diarrhoea and in matured stage of dysentery. It however, does not seem to give rise to any remarkable effect in regular diarrhoea.

Skin Disorders remedied by devil`s tree
For skin disorders like eczema, acne and ringworm, an extract of the bark is administered in 30 to 60 ml dosages, twice or thrice daily.
