Swaminarayan Temple , Ahmedabad
Lord Swaminarayan built this temple on the pious land, donated by Darbar Punjabhai.

Swaminarayan TempleSwaminarayan Temple was built by Lord Swaminarayan himself, one of the only six temples built by Him. This immense temple, with three majestic domes was superintended and planned by S.G. Shri Nishkulanand Swami, Brai Atmanand Swami Akshardanand Swami and Dharmprasad Swami. Dholera is itself a port city, located 30 km away from Dhanuka, Ahmedabad. The temple constructional work was time and again scrutinized by S.G. Nishkulanand Muni, Bhai Atmanand Swami, Akhandanand Swami and Dharmprasadanand Swami.

The land for this pious attempt of building Swaminarayan Temple was donated by Darbar Punjabhai. Lord Shriji Maharaj who was camping in Kamiala to deliver devotional discourses to his disciples, was requested by the devotees and Shri Punjabhai to grace the Dholera and consecrate the idols in the newly erected Dholera Temple. Contented with the earnestness of the devotees, Lord Shriji Maharaj asked Brahmin priests to fix a favourable time for the installation ceremony. He finally footstepped in Dholera, on the day of 13th Vaishakha, in V.S. 1882, and sanctified with his own hands the idols of Lord Madan Mohan Dev and his own form Harikrishna Maharaj at the principal seat in the centre, amidst Vedic hymns.

Besides the Gods in the inner Swaminarayan temple and sanctum sanctorum, Lord Hanuman and Lord Ganapati are seated in Roop Chowki near the main stairway of Swaminarayan Temple. In the western side, near the steps, there are the idols of Lord Sheshashayi, Suryanarayan, Dharm-Bhakti and Lord Ghanshayam Maharaj. The idols of Shankar and Parvati beautify the right side.
