Gochar is a town in Chamoli district of the north Indian state Uttarakhand. According to the 2001 India census report, Gochar had a small population of 7278 inhabitants. Males constitute 58% of the population and females constitute 42% of the population. In Gochar, 12% of the population is less than six years of age. The town has an average literacy rate of 81%, which is higher than the national average literacy rate of 59.5%. The male literacy rate is 85% and the female literacy rate is 76%.
