The year 1998 marked the introduction of this award ceremony. The event witnesses sparkling performances and award presentations. Zee Cine Awards presents awards under different categories in recognition to the contributions of Bollywood professionals in varied cinematic fields.

14th Zee Cine Awards
14th Zee Cine Awards was organized on 8th February 2014 in Mumbai and was aired on 23rd February on multiple channels. The event honoured the best films of the previous year, 2013, and was co-anchored by Bollywood actors Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh. Songs are always an important part of Bollywood films and the lyricists have a major contribution in composing the Bollywood melodies. Zee Cine Awards for Best Lyricist appreciates the works of those lyricists who pen down heart touching songs for the films. In 2014, the nominations under this category included Swanand Kirkire for `Manjha` (Kai Po Che), Amitabh Bhattacharya for `Kabira` (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), Amitabh Bhattacharya for `Shikayatein` (Lootera), Mithoon for `Tum Hi Ho` (Aashiqui 2), Prasoon Joshi for `Zinda` (Bhaag Milkha Bhaag) and Sandeep Nath for `Sunn Raha Hai` (Aashiqui 2). The award was won by Mithoon.

Mithoon
Mithoon is a noted lyricist, music director and playback singer of Bollywood who has composed enchanting music for a number of flicks. Many of his songs went on to become chartbusters. His song `Tum Hi Ho` from Aashiqui 2 became a huge hit and garnered a number of awards in several award ceremonies apart from Zee Cine Awards.
