Vishnu Sudarshana
Lord Vishnu, the Preserver of the Cosmos, uses a weapon called Sudarshana, which literally means “good sight”. This was used by Lord Vishnu as a weapon, when he targeted anyone out of fury. It is a spinning, disk-like weapon with 108 serrated edges. It is considered as one of the most powerful divine weapons capable of demolishing all evil.

Significance of Vishnu Sudarshana Mantra
According to Kundalini meditation, there seemed to be some mysterious significance to the name of this mantra. When Vishnu Sudarshana Mantra is repeated more than twice, the fire automatically ignites and starts burning furiously no matter how wet the fuel is. In ancient days, Vishnu Sudarshana Mantra was often used for funeral pyres when torrents of rain occurred.

The secret of the mystical power of Vishnu Sudarshana Mantra lies in the scientific theory of friction. Friction can only create fire; however, another option is to take the energy of fire directly from the sun, using a magnifying glass. Chanting of Vishnu Sudarshana Mantra should be done after taking a bath. Prior to chanting the Vishnu Sudarshana Mantra, chant the name of Lord Vishnu as in “Om Namo Narayanaya”. “Om Sudarshan Chakray Mam Sarv Karya Vijayam Dehi Dehi Om Phat”.

The aspirants who want to learn Vishnu Sudarshana Mantra have to stand on one leg for 12 years repeating the mantra and thus attain enough energy for it to work.

This chanting possesses an excess of any of the three Gunas, namely the Tamas, Rajas or Sattva. The Gunas are a crucial part of Samkhya philosophy and the Tamasic friction is depicted as argument and discord between people. This friction working in Vishnu Sudarshana Mantra creates fiery emotions like hatred, revenge, anger and violent frenzy. Rajasic friction is due to the fire of lust. Thus, the primary Gunas are responsible for the fiery reaction of the Vishnu Sudarshana Mantra.
