Thimmapur is a village located in Warnagal District of Telangana. This rural area in Warangal was once ruled by the pompous Kakatiya Dynasty and later the Muslims. In modern period, this place was ruled by Nizams of Hyderabad and the British Colonial Government. From the early time, this place has mythological history also.

From Hyderabad one can take National Highway - 202 connecting Hyderabad with Warangal City, one of the most important medieval cities in Telangana and then get off the highway at Ghanapur (Station) and continue the road to Zaffergadh and then follow the road to Thimmapur.

Thimmapur is located in the semi-arid of Telangana, a newly formed state. Zaffergadh has a predominantly hot and dry climate. The summers start in March, and peak in May with average high temperatures in the 42 degree Celsius range. The monsoon arrives in June and lasts until September with about 550 millimetres of precipitation. A dry, mild winter starts in late November and lasts until early February, when there is little humidity and average temperature in the range of 22-23 degree Celsius.

History of Thimmapur
History of Thimmapur deals with the glorious rule of Kakatiya Dynasty, Delhi Sultanate and Mughal rulers. In Thimmapur, there is a temple called Narasimha Swamy Temple on a hill. This hill in Thimmapur has a spiritual value. According to a mythological legend there was a pandit in this town of Zaffargadh who in his dream saw Narashimha Swamy who was telling him that Lord manifested himself on this hill. The old Brahmin was given the detailed position of manifestation by Narshimha Swamy himself and was asked to spread this to people of his town. The pandit then followed his dream and went to the location on this hill where he located Narashimha Swamy`s idol at the location of manifestation. After this, people in this town constructed a temple where they found Sawmy`s idol. There is a water source on this hill where exactly at noon Narashimha Sawmy takes dip in the water and does the prayer to Lord Saurya by standing at the same place every day.

Tourism of Thimmapur covers the ancient and medieval monuments built during the time of Kakatiya rule and the Muslim rule. These ancient forts were built during the rule of Zaffarudhaula, the regional ruler in the late medieval period. These ruins can be seen on all the hills surrounding Zaffargadh. Other ancient sites near Thimmapur are Warangal, Hanmakonda, Jangaon, Bhongir, Suryapet and Hyderabad. Hyderabad is now the capital city of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
