It is believed to be one of the oldest temples of Kerala and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple was ravaged by Tipu Sultan in ancient times but was later reconstructed. Shobha Parambu Devi Temple, Vettakkorumakan Temple, Ayyapan Temple and Trikkaikattu Temple and Math are other nearby tourist attractions.

Tanur Beach is situated at a distance of 10 kilometres from the city of Tirur. For reaching Tanur Beach Kozikode International Airport, 36 kilometres away, serves as the nearest airport whereas the nearest railhead is Tanur railway station, 2 kilometres away. However the major railway station is located in Kozhikode. Buses can also be availed from Tanur bus stand, situated at a distance of 2 kilometres. Private cabs can also be hired by the tourists.
