In the epic Mahabharata it is stated that Suyodhana is the name given to Duryodhana, the eldest of the hundred sons of Dhritarashtra. Suyodhana or Duryodhana is the representative of the Kauravas who are painted in the darkest colours, and embodies all their bad qualities.
In Hinduism, Suyodhana is regarded as the visible type of Vice, or the evil principle in human nature, for ever doing battle with Virtue, or the good and divine principle. He fought against virtue, symbolized by the five Pandava Brothers. At Suyodhana or Duryodhana`s birth various evil omens of the usual hackneyed description occurred; jackals yelled, donkeys brayed, whirlwinds blew, and the sky seemed on fire. Dhritarashtra alarmed, called his ministers together, who recommended him to abandon the child, but could not persuade him to do so.
